Newport / I-40 / Smoky Mountains KOAMeet Your Hosts A love for the area drew Bert and Gini Bockoven to the Smoky Mountains and a past experience in the camping business made purchasing the Newport/I-40/Smoky Mountains KOA in January 2007, an easy decision. After experiencing a multitude of professions, including taking part in the family printing business for 25 years; Bert and Gini ran an independent campground in Montana for 5 years. When that venture came to an end they returned home to Florida. After a couple of years of relaxation, Bert knew he had to do something. Upon seeing the campground, they knew that this area would be perfect to get back into the campground business. "We loved to drive up and see the seasons change and Tennessee has always been my favorite state," says Bert, "The foliage here is beautiful and with the Great Smokies nearby, there really isn't a better place to camp." Not only is the campground located in a great place, but they also have fabulous work kampers that help give campers a camping experience filled with new and exciting memories. "Our employees are terrific and customer service is important to us, since we want our campers to love the area and the campground as much as we do," says Bert. Even though there hasn't been a lot of free time yet, when there is, Bert enjoys getting out on the golf course and Gini takes pride in using her professional experience as a florist, on the campground with landscaping.
